Sparking Curiosity using TPACK diagram.

Sparking curiosity is important for the engagement of a lesson. We want to pull our students into the lesson using some type of attention grabber. Much like when a speaker presents information to us, if we are disinterested in the beginning, we might be less interested during the presentation. If the speaker makes a joke or starts by showing a video, he or she is likely to grab our attention. In the Google Slide Link HERE, I use my TPACK diagram from a previous post to find a video that will spark the curiosity of my students. Using Google Slides, I edited the video by News Depth to discuss what it means to be a citizen. The hope is that the class will engage in discussion and build a list of topics they think will be discussed in the remainder of the video. This information is going to draw them into the lesson and leave them with questions to consider while also building questions of their own. Using these questions and lists in the instruction portion of the lesson will guide students to the goal of understanding the obligations of citizens in the United States.
